Gili Lankanfushi Maldives has earned the prestigious TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award 2015 for Best Hotel in the World.

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, announced the winners of the 13th annual awards on Wednesday, January 21.

According to TripAdvisor, the winners were selected based on millions of traveller reviews, opinions and ratings.

The awards recognised 8,151 winning properties from 98 countries in eight regions around the world.

In addition to the top global award, Gili Lankanfushi was also named the Best Hotel in Asia.

Gili Lankanfushi is located in North Male’ Atoll, a short distance from the international airport.

Other Maldivian resorts among the top 25 hotels on the global list were Cocoa Island by COMO (ranked 6th) and Constance Moofushi (ranked 15th).

Cocoa Island is located in South Male’ Atoll and boasts 33 overwater suites. The luxury resort offers holistic wellness treatments at the COMO Shambhala Retreat, South Indian-influenced cuisine, and world-class diving.

The Constance Moofushi in South Ari Atoll, dubbed ‘Jewel Island,’ features 24 beach villas, 56 water villas, and 30 senior water villas.
